Getting to Pamplona isn't that tough, but it's not super-easy either.

You'll probably be coming from one of the Barcelona Metropolitan cities of Madrid or Barcelona. Both cities offer cheap flights (check out www.whichbudget.com or iberia.com). Alternatively, you can rent a car, which is pretty cheap, but we warn you--the drive is BORING!

From Madrid:

Once you arrive at the airport, catch the metro to the RENFE train station. From there you’ll take a 3+ hour train ride to Pamplona. You can purchase train tickets in advance at www.renfe.es. We recommend buying tickets before you leave because the month of July the trains to Pamplona get pretty full.

Alternatively, you can take a longer night train and rent a sleeper.

From Barcelona:

Once you arrive at the airport, catch the metro to the RENFE train station (Estacion Sants). From there you’ll take a 6-hour train ride to Pamplona. You can purchase train tickets in advance at www.renfe.es, which we recommend doing.

Alternatively, you can take a longer night train and rent a couchette or private sleeper. This is a great way to not kill the entire day traveling and save some money on a hotel.

From San Sebastian

The only way to get to San Sebastian is via train (about an hour). During the month of July, there are frequent trains to/from Pamplona (almost every hour). Staying in San Sebastian is not an option during San Fermines! The first bus will get you into town after the bulls have come and gone through the streets of Pamplona! Here is information about the bus schedule.

Once in Pamplona at the RENFE train station
We will give detailed information in your itinerary on how to get from the RENFE station to your hotel. It’s a simple and short taxi ride that will cost about 5-8 euros. You can walk as well, but with bags and the craziness that will have already ensued in Pamplona, it is much simpler to get a taxi and save your feet for the town!

We used to offer transfers from the airport/train station, but with so many people coming in and the inevitable delays that take place in the Spanish transportation system, it makes much better sense to find your way to the hotel, where we'll meet you.
